Once more there's a chill in the morning air
And soon the leaves will be red and gold
This is a wonderful time of the year
But oh too soon it will be getting cold
It is the time when squirrels are busy
Gathering their nuts for winter
And a time for getting in firewood
Be careful, don't get a splinter
I also love this time of year
For just taking a walk
Perhaps you'd like to go with me
Then we could have a talk
We could walk back through the woods
And feel the leaves crunch under our feet
I just love walking in the woods
Let's find a log and have a seat
Today I think I'll go pick some apples
And maybe make a pie or two
Or I could gather up some hickory nuts
And bring some over to you
Yes, I do love this time of year
But winter will be here soon
So better get things done while you can
Soon it's going to be a cold, cold moon
