~ Hymn of My Heart ~
I am a woman alone.
A gathering of goldenrods
And clover bow at my feet.
I listen to Earth's song,
And sing its hymn
Like the wind in the pines,
Or a lark from his nook in the meadow.
I sing when honey-colored days
Wrap warmth around my soul
Or gray, maudlin days
Push a cold, harsh wind into my spirit.
When I rise on a winter morn
I sing a song of snow...
When Autumn beckons
The first silver frost
To blanket the sleepy ground,
I sing a song a song of golden leaves....
As I tuck each memory
Into the treasure of my heart.
And when the storms of Life come
Shaking my foundations-
I sing with the reverberating
Drums of thunder...
The rhythm only makes me stronger.
I am a woman alone.
Listen to the song of my spirit.
I sing a hymn of truth,
Born of sorrow,
Born of joy,
An anthem of faith.
