~ A Letter Unsent
~
I sit here,
lonely, at this
keyboard
To write a letter
I truly want to
send.
There was a time
that we both swore
Our love would
last forever;
never end.
And now it seems
we are both alone
With no way to
even call each
other friend.
So, I sit here at
the keyboard and I
wonder
Where and when did
it all go so
wrong.
Could we have done
things different
And saved this
love which once
was strong?
My mind goes back
so many years
As I listen to
music that once
was "our" song.
So this letter, I
know I'll just
throw away
For it is not
possible to alter
the past.
All we can do is
go on with our
lives
And accept the
fact that a love
may not last.
The memories so
safely stored in
my heart,
There to stay, for
the die has been
cast.
