~ Queen Of The Silver Screen ~
When I was quite small
stories I recall ...
when my Mom wasn't busy,
these stories she would tell me.
But some stood out from the rest,
the ones I liked best
about the old movie stars,
their glittering life and fancy cars.
She spoke of movie nights,
the age of the old black and whites.
Harlow, the blonde bombshell
was her favorite, I could tell.
It became my quest, not a whim
to see an old black and white film!
I just had to see a show
with Jean Harlow.
Then came TV
the old black and whites I could see.
On that little screen ...
I could see this great movie queen!
How Harlow did shine
with that body so fine.
She moved with such grace
and what a beautiful face!
I sat with a stare
at that platium hair.
A little cleft in her chin,
what a wonderful creature she'd been!
I wanted to be like this star,
but I went too far ....
for I bleached my hair
I can still hear my Mom, "How could you
dare?"
But to this day
if a Jean Harlow movie is to play,
you'll find me yet
in front of the TV set!
Of all the stars
she was the greatest by far,
with body and face devine,
Jean Harlow's star still brightly shines.
